Fashinada

Although many traditions have been related to this church, only Fashinada has survived. It is a custom that, on July 22, on the day of St. Mary Magdalene, celebrated the beginning of construction of the island. Then young men, in boats decorated with flags and filled with rocks, paddling to the island where they throw stones, symbolizing in that way restoration of the island.

Our Lady of the Rocks

Legend says that on July 22. 1452., sailors, on a rock in the middle of the sea, find the icon of the Madonna with Child. Since that day, there was a tradition that sailors, after returning from a successful navigation, lay stones on the coast of Our Lady of the Rocks.

For centuries become this composing, man-fermented, island. Its base in the depths of the bay hiding hundreds of irradiated sailing ships, which are filled with stones and sunk, to the island still stood above the water.

The church contains many works of art of famous painter Tripo Kokolj from Kotor, as well as the icon of Our Lady of the Rocks, which was made in 1452. by Lovro Dobricevic.

Some of the most popular are Bujovic Palace, Balovic, Zmajevic, Mazarovic. Because of its rich cultural heritage, preserved beauty, but also those of degraded buildings, unusual stories and legends, peace and quiet that provides, Perast is appealing to all lovers of the sea, maritime, art but also for a seekers of almost forgotten values.

Blue cave

Blue cave is one of the most beautiful and largest caves in the series of caves, which are located along the very jagged coast of the peninsula Lustica in the Bay of Kotor. The cave is located between the cove Zlatna luka and the cape Mokra gora, and 5.7 nautical miles away from Herceg Novi.

There are two openings at an angle of 45 degrees, a smaller opening on the south side and bigger on the southwest side, which has the height of 3m, a width of about 15m. Inside the cave can enter ordinary boats and smaller ships.

Sea depth inside the cave is 4-5 m. Height from sea level to the top of the ceiling is 9 m, and its size is approximately 300m². Its name comes from the unusual blue crystal color that occurs by reflection of sunlight reflected by the surface during clear days.
